With a boiler 199,000 btuh providing heating only (fin tube radiators)in a 3 bedroom house with 1 kitchen and 3 baths (2500 sq. ft. total area). How big is the propane tank have to be in order to provide heating through the entire heating season say 6 months without refilling the tank. please advise. Please note that the house will only be heated 4 hours per day.

I’m wanting to run a 15,000 to 30,00 BTU, propane/Lp blue flame wall mounted heater and wanted to know if I had to have the big tank or if I could run of the smaller ones like you see at gas stations? I heard something about you could if it wasn’t that cold but I do live in SC so it doesn’t get extremely cold here much.

I’m looking to move to All-Grain and have a Turkey Fryer picked out that *says* it features a 40,000 BTU burner. If I were to do a full boil of 6.5 Gal of wort, how much propane would I have to estimate using for a typical 1 hr boil…and will a 40k BTU burner even work for that?

I have a normal sized propane tank attatched to an old Weber grill. I cant seem to figure out how to remove the hose from the tank so i can go and get it refilled. My mom went by some place and some guy whowed her how, but she says its not the same, but even if it was the same i doubt she would remember how he did it.
Please help i really want my steak tonight.

I’m not quite sure what you mean by “freezing the heater”…
If you run the heater with the propane cylinder lying on it’s side, you could see frost on the hose and the gas valve assembly. This is because you are putting liquid propane to the heater instead of vapor. This can be VERY dangerous and should not be done. The cylinder must always be upright.
The only other thing I can think of is sometimes if the burner is too large for the size of cylinder it is connected to, the cylinder itself can frost or freeze up, but not usually the heater.
30,000btu is a pretty light load. Unless you get down into very low temperatures ( -15°F or -25°C ) a 20# cylinder should feed it fine.
EDIT: If the heater is shutting down, it is not because of the cylinder. A 20# cylinder has more than enough capacity to feed a 30k btu heater. It sounds more like you may have a problem with the 100% safety valve. The thermocouple is a short piece of thin tubing that runs from the gas valve to the burner pilot. Make sure it is threaded in tight at the gas valve, and the tip of it is right in the flame of the pilot. If it doesn’t sense the flame properly, the gasvalve will stop the flow of propane. You may possibly need to replace the thermocouple…they do go bad from time to time.

If I used the BBQ size tank to run a stove would I use the regulator from a BBQ grill or the regulator that was on the 100 gallon tank that used to provide the gas for the stove?
Basically my question is:
Will the BBQ size tank be too small for the larger regulator?

to connect a smaller 100lb or 20 lb tank to it?

generac air cooled 15/16 kw ….owners manual says natural gas = 173@half load, 245@full load and propane=1.59/59@half load,2.51/92@full load…nat gas is in cubic ft,lp is in gallons per hour/cubic ft….so with lp(propane) how big of a tank(gallons) do i need to run at half load for 5 days?

I have a Hayward Pool Heater and need to hook it up to a 100lb propane tank…is there a cheaper way then copper pipe? Thanks!

and just check it underneath? what about a machete, or pocketknife? i am planning a camping trip, and i just realized a propane tank will probably not be allowed on the plane.
